Opaque
Reflect
Reflection is when light bounces off an object. If the surface is smooth and shiny, like glass, water or polished metal, the light will reflect at the same angle as it hit the surface.
-
Opaque objects block light from traveling through them. Most of the light is either reflected by the object or absorbed and converted to thermal energy. Materials such as wood, stone, and metals are opaque to visible light.

The light coming from the flashlight cannot pass through the basketball.
Absorb
Absorption of light takes place when matter captures electromagnetic radiation, converting the energy of photons to internal energy.
